Antrim Firm Scoops Business In China
Fast Engineering in Antrim has been assisted by Invest Northern Ireland to win business worth around £100,000 in China.
The company is supplying its portable FASTANK liquid storage systems for environmental clean-up operations at a major chemical plant in Shanghai.
Seamus Connolly, Fast Engineering Managing Director and founder of the company in 1981 says the new business in Shanghai demonstrates the flexibility and versatility of the FASTANK range of storage systems.
Welcoming the new business Dr Vicky Kell, Invest NI Trade Director said: "Fast Engineering has used our services, including trade missions, over very many years. The latest business in China strengthens its position there, in what is a new and fast developing market niche, and also offers substantial growth opportunities in other parts of the world.
"This is also an excellent example of a smaller business which has been able to spot new market developments and to adapt its products quickly to exploit new opportunities from its longstanding engagement in the global marketplace. The company has also ensured that product development has been focussed to assist market penetration and the exploitation of niche opportunities."
The contract relates to a new market niche for the business which already supplies its FASTANK portable water storage tanks worldwide to clients ranging from environmental protection bodies, to aid agencies in nations affected by drought and natural disasters; as well as oil and chemical companies.
