Co Fermanagh Businessman Fined Over Pollution
A County Fermanagh businessman has pleaded guilty and been fined a total of £1,500 at Enniskillen Magistrates' Court today for pollution offences.
Mr Ivan Bradshaw, Drumhoney Lane, Drumhoney, Lisnarick, was fined for making a polluting discharge to a waterway and contravening the conditions of a discharge consent.
He was fined £750 for each offence and also had to pay £28 court costs and an offenders levy of £15.
The charges related to 12 April 2013, when a routine sample was collected from the consented discharge point at Drumhoney Caravan Park, Drumhoney, Lisnarick, Co Fermanagh.
The result of the sample showed that the biochemical oxygen demand was 69 milligrammes per litre, higher than a consent limit of 20 milligrammes per litre. It also contained 41 milligrammes per litre of ammoniacal nitrogen against a consent limit of nine milligrammes per litre. The effluent was therefore unsuitable for discharge.
