Four-Car Collision In Armagh

Four cars have been involved in a road accident in Co Armagh.

The collision happened on the Red Lion Road, Loughgall, on Wednesday morning.

The road on the Portadown side of the Red Lion crossroads was closed in both directions for a time.

It has since reopened. No further details are available.

In a separate incident, two cars collided in Holywood, Co Down. The crash happened on the A2, heading towards Bangor, on Wednesday morning.

Two lanes, heading Belfast bound, were closed for a time.

They have since reopened.

Woman Convicted Of Benefit Fraud

A woman has been convicted of benefit fraud at Belfast Magistrates' Court.

Alison McVarnock, 48, of Quadrant Place in Belfast, was found guilty of claiming benefits she was not entitled to. She claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £9,827, while failing to declare capital.

She was given a six-month prison sentence suspended for two years and ordered to pay court costs of £31. She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

Road Improvement Scheme For Kircubbin

A £60,000 road improvement scheme is set to begin in Kircubbin, it has been announced.

Work on the project will begin from Monday 3 November and is expected to be completed by the end of the month.

The work will improve the junction at Rowreagh Road at its Rubane Road junction. It will also provide an improved sightline for drivers exiting onto the main A20 Portaferry to Newtownards Road, while other work will see the removal of a crest in the road, carriageway resurfacing, drainage improvements and the removal of hedges.

Transport Minister Danny Kennedy said: "This scheme is one of a number of improvements to the main A20 between Newtownards and Portaferry and will help improve road safety at this often busy junction."

Man, 82, Dies Following Road Collision

A man has died eight days after he was involved in a car accident in Co Tyrone.

The victim, 82, died from his injuries at Altnagelvin Hospital on 28 October.

The crash occurred on the Drumquin Road, Castlederg, on 20 October.

No other vehicle was involved in the collision.

Two Road Improvement Schemes For Newcastle
Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has said work is to commence next week on two road improvement schemes in Newcastle, Co Down. The schemes will total £324,000. Work on a £270,000 resurfacing scheme on the U6208 Shimna Road, Newcastle, and a £54,000 resurfacing scheme on Park Avenue, Newcastle, is to start on Monday 13 January 2014.

Man Killed In Co Antrim Road Collision Named
A man who died in a road collision in Co Antrim has been named as Kamil Gervenka. The crash occurred on the Portglenone Road in Randalstown at around 12.15am on Sunday, 23 October. It is believed he was originally from Slovakia and worked in the area. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Dies In Co Fermanagh Road Crash
A man has died in a road crash in Co Fermanagh. The one-vehicle collision happened on the Tattymacall Road in Lisbellaw at approximately 5.10pm on Monday, 05 September. The road has been re-opened. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
