Universities Warned Over Potential Executive Funding Cut

The Employment and Learning Minister Stephen Farry has warned Northern Ireland's universities that they could face a further funding cut of 15%.

Queen's University Belfast (QUB) and the University of Ulster (UU) have been told that they should plan for a cut in the money they receive from the Northern Ireland Executive.

The money is understood to represent around a third of each universities budget.

Mr Farry is understood to have said that he had to issue the warning as he was "part of an executive that is not properly managing its budget".
