Belfast man arrested in Israel

A Belfast man is set to be deported from Israel after being arrested by Israeli security forces in the West Bank.

Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Movement member Terry McNeill was arrested along with 53 other people in the town of Mash'a near Jenin after protesting against the erection of a new Palestinian and Israeli peace wall.

Mr NcNeill was eventually released on bail following his arrest on Monday.

The incident mirrors that of west Belfast man Seán O Muireagáin who was arrested by Israeli security forces last month.

The arrest of Mr O Muireagáin's was later declared a mistake after it was found that he was on a cultural exchange project mission.
