Two NI children die in Swedish road accident

Two children from Northern Ireland have died in a road traffic accident in Sweden.

The youngsters who died were with their parents, two sisters and brother when the people carrier they were travelling in collided with a truck.

The accident happened close to the town of Oesmo, just south of the capital Stockholm at around 1pm yesterday.

One of the victims died at the scene of the crash while the other died later in hospital.

Police believe that one of the tyres on the truck exploded, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

The family's other three children are being treated in hospital for their injuries, one of whom is in a serious condition.

The mother, meanwhile, is said to be serious but stable condition while the father is unhurt.

Witnesses described hearing what sounded like an explosion when the lorry's tyre blew out.

Appeal After Cars Damaged In Hospital Carpark
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses after a number of cars were damaged on the grounds of of a hospital on the Lisburn Road on the evening of Friday, 5th July. Making the appeal, Inspector McCrum said: "A report was received shortly after 10pm that the windscreens of up to 11 vehicles parked in the area had been broken.

Men Due In Court On Range Of Terrorism Charges
Two men are due to appear before Dungannon Magistrates' Court today, Friday 5th July, charged with a number of offences including preparation of terrorist acts, possessing explosives with intent to endanger life or cause serious damage to property and possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances.
