Third Arrest In South Belfast Drug Seizures
A third person has been arrested following the seizure of suspected herbal cannabis in the Donegall Quay area of south Belfast on the afternoon of Wednesday 8 October.
The 30-year-old man was arrested by detectives in the Westland Road area of Portadown, County Armagh, on Wednesday evening on suspicion of drug trafficking offences.
The estimated street value of the suspected herbal cannabis is believed to be in the region of £500,000.
A 40-year-old man and 29-year-old-woman were arrested on Wednesday as a result of the seizures. The man has been charged with 8 offences including converting a criminal property, possession of a class B controlled drug with intent to supply and two counts of importing a controlled drug. He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court this morning.
The 29-year-old woman has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Many Arrests In Gardaí Drugs Raids
A total of 45 people have been arrested in the past 48 hours in Gardaí a crackdown on the sale and supply of heroin and 'crack' cocaine in the Dublin region. The operation, which involved Garda drug units from Kevin Street, Pearse Street and Store Street stations, resulted in 150 charges being brought, according to Gardaí this morning.

The last month has seen 10 suspected drug-related deaths in the greater Belfast area, sparking concern across the community. PSNI Detective Superintendent Bobby Singleton said while the cause of death is not definitively known, the use of illicit or prescription drugs may have been a factor.
