Man Arrested Over Eamon Collins Murder
Police have arrested a 56-year-old man over the murder of Eamon Collins 15 years ago.
Detectives from Serious Crime Branch arrested the man in the County Armagh area this morning and took him to Antrim police station for questioning.
Eamon Collins was knocked down, beaten and stabbed while out walking his dogs on 27 January 1999 in the Dorans Hill area of Newry city.
Detective Chief Inspector Peter Montgomery, from Serious Crime Branch, said: "I continue to ask those with information about Mr Collins' murder, particularly those in the Barcroft estate, to think again about the awfulness of what happened and about the Collins family. It is never too late to come forward."
Anyone with information can contact detectives on 02890 700 727 or 07585 228 283.
Alternatively, people who do not want to provide their personal details can phone the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Drop In Public Sector Construction - Survey
Public sector construction in Northern Ireland declined in the first three months of this year, according to a new survey. NI was the only part of the UK which saw a drop, however there has been an overall increase in the building industry. The survey was carried out by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and law firm Tughans.

Arts Council Reveals Breakdown Of Reduced Funding
Twenty seven different organisations and events have had their funding cut as the Arts Council of Northern Ireland implements 11.2% cuts, passed on to it as part of the 2015/16 budget. Of the 115 applications received by the Arts Council, six requests were turned down completely.

M5 Crash Man Dies
A 51-year-old man has died following an accident on the city-bound carriageway of the M5 motorway outside Belfast. The man - who was initially listed in a critical condition in hospital - was fatally injured following an accident last night. It is believed just one car was involved in the crash which happened at about 10.30pm on Thursday.

Monument breaches equality regulations
Omagh District Council has breached its own equality scheme according to the Northern Ireland Equality Commission. The commission investigated a complaint regarding the memorial of IRA hunger strikers, after a Dromore resident complained about the monument on the Old Dromore Church and graveyard.

RIR Battallion Commander faces second inquiry
A second inquiry into the conduct of Royal Irish Regiment Batallion Commander Colonel Tim Collins is ongoing. It was dislosed today that an investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the apparent suicide of an 18-year-old private soldier, Paul Cochrane, at Drumaad barracks, Co Armagh in Northern Ireland, two years ago.
