First Ministers' Criticised Over Ryder Cup Visit
First Minister Peter Robinson and deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness have been criticised for making a visit to this year's Ryder Cup.
The first session of this year's tournament began at Gleneagles at 7.35am, and both DUP leader Peter Robinson and Sinn Féin MLA Martin McGuinness were spotted watching the golf and talking to the players involved.
The minister's office has said they were invited by Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond and they would also be meeting with business representatives as part of the trip.
However, Alliance leader and Justic Minister David Ford has criticised the politicians, claiming they are more interested in the sport, rather than solving Northern Ireland's massive budget crisis.
He is quoted as saying: "In the face of the growing financial and political crisis, I am sure that I am not the only horrified person to hear that the First and deputy First Ministers have decided that they are more interested in watching the Ryder Cup.
"Stephen Farry and I told the Executive that we were prepared to clear our diaries on Thursday evening or all day Friday to discuss the budget. It seems that Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness have other priorities.
"As the budget falls into a black hole, they seem more interested in the 18 holes at Gleneagles."
