Memorial Service To Be Held For Ian Paisley

A memorial service is to be held next month for Ian Paisley.

The founder of the Democratic Unionist Party and former First Minister died on 12 September and buried in a private, family only, funeral.

A memorial service is to be held at Ulster Hall on Sunday 19 October. The service is to be broadcast by BBC NI.

It is understood the Ulster Hall event will be invite only.

A memorial service is to be held today at Belfast City Hall for Lord Gerry Fitt. Family members, friends and politicians are expected to attend the ceremony, which will honour the former SDLP leader, who died last August at the age of 79, after suffering from a long-term heart condition.

Memorial service held for victims of Kingsmills shooting
A memorial service has been held in Armagh today for the victims of the Kingsmills massacre 30 years ago. The families of the ten Protestant workmen, who were shot dead by the IRA in 1976, took part in the 30-minute service, which was held at the scene of the atrocity, where only two people survived the attack.

McGuinness And Adams Attend Mandela Memorial
Martin McGuinness and Gerry Adams are to attend events in South Africa this week to mark the death of former leader Nelson Mandella. Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams was invited to attend the public memorial service in Johannesburg tomorrow, but is unable to travel until Wednesday due to prior engagements.
