Jobs At Risk In Phones 4U Closure Announcement

More than 5,500 jobs are at risk following the announcement that Phones 4U has been placed into administration.

All 550 Phones 4U stores have closed with immediate effect, the retailer's owners, private equity firm BC Partners, has said.

The decision by mobile networks EE and Vodafone to not to renew their contracts with the retailer are being blamed for the closures.

Phones 4U has said that anyone with an existing mobile contract will not be affected by the announcement, however anyone who ordered a phone, which has not yet been dispatched, would be affected.

It is understood that staff have been advised to attend work as normal, where they will be given more information, and continue to be paid until further notice.
