Arrests Follow 'Paramilitary' Attack In Larne

Police have arrested two men, aged 28 and 33, following what is being described as a "paramilitary style attack" in Larne.

The attack happened in the Shanlea Drive area on Friday afternoon at about 12:40.

Officers were called to the area following an attack on a man. Police said the man was beaten with baseball bats and sustained serious head injuries.

Aged in his twenties, the victim has been taken to hospital for treatment for injuries that are not thought to be life threatening.

Two men have been arrested in the Larne area about an hour after the attack was reported. Both were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and are being questioned by detectives.

Arrests Follow Elderly Man's Blaze Escape
Two men have been arrested after a fire in Banbridge forced 25 people to leave their homes. The pair, a teenager aged 19 and a man aged 22, were held this morning after a suspect fire was tackled last night. It emerged earlier that a 91-year-old man had to be woken up by firefighters following the overnight blaze in the Co Down town.

Arrests Follow Bishop Street Murder Bid
Detectives working on the attempted murder of an off-duty policeman in Londonderry earlier this month have arrested two men. The gun attack on a 43-year-old PSNI man took place after he dropped his son off at a school in Bishop Street on 8 November. He was struck on his face and arm but was able to drive himself to a nearby police station.

Man Shot In The Legs In North Belfast
A man has been shot in the legs in north Belfast. The paramilitary-style attack happened in the Jamaica Street area on Sunday, 25 June. The man was taken to hospital, however his injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
