Bus Drivers To Hold Ballot Over Strike Action
A ballot is to be held over possible strike action by Translink bus drivers in a dispute over pay.
A 1% pay increase offered to Metro and Ulsterbus drivers has been withdrawn, with Translink blaming cuts to public transport funding.
It is understood the funding cuts are part of overall budget reductions of £15m, faced by the Department for Regional Development, which controls Translink's funding.
Drivers who are members of Unite and GMB are being asked to vote on a graduated response to the pay rise withdrawal – which ranges from a ban on overtime to work stoppages.
