Graeme McDowell Announces Baby's Birth

Graeme McDowell has become a father for the first time.

The golfer, who hails from Northern Ireland, shared the news via his Twitter account.

In a short message to his followers, the 35-year-old wrote: "Thanks so much for all the well wishes.

"Mum and baby girl are happy and healthy. Happiest moment of my life hands down. #daddy #love".

The new father was quickly inundated with congratulatory messages, one of which was from his fellow NI golfer Rory McIlroy, who said: "Congrats @Graeme_McDowell and @kristinstape on the birth of your beautiful baby girl! #DaddyGMac."

No pictures of the couple's child or her name have yet been released.

Police Question 24-Year-Old Over Baby Death
Detectives investigating the death of a 14-week-old baby boy in Newtownabbey have been granted more time to question a man about the infant's murder. Cameron Leslie, from the New Mossley estate in Newtownabbey, had been taken to the Antrim Area Hospital on Thursday with a number of serious injuries.

Father cleared of baby daughter’s murder
A man accused of murdering his baby daughter has been found not guilty by a jury at Craigavon Crown Court. Paul Owens, 29, originally from Shrewsbury denied killing his 14-week-old daughter Jasmine McGowan at their home in Twinbrook on the outskirts of Belfast in August 1999.
