Investigation Launched Into 'Paramilitary Style Shooting'

The PSNI have launched an investigation after a man was shot in both legs on Sunday.

It is understood that a 24-year-old was in a "paramilitary style shooting" in Flax Street, north Belfast.

He is being treated in hospital, where his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Anyone with any information about the attack has been urged to contact police.

Man Injured In Belfast City Centre Assault
Detectives are investigating an assault that occurred in Belfast City Centre on Saturday, 7th December. Shortly after 4pm, police received a report that a man had been assaulted by an unknown individual in the High Street/Church Lane area. The victim sustained injuries to his face and body and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Man Jailed For Sexual Abuse Of Teenager
A 56-year-old man from Newtownabbey has been jailed for eight months for sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl in 2006. Gary Thompson was convicted of two counts of indecent assault. The victim, who is now 33, waived her right to anonymity to speak out about the abuse.

Man Jailed For Escaping Prison
A 37-year-old man has been jailed for six months for escaping from prison. Shane Frane, who is currently serving an indeterminate sentence for the manslaughter of Constable Philippa Reynolds on 09 February 2013.
