Pubs Of Ulster Issues A-Level Results Warning
Pubs of Ulster today has issued a reminder to the pubs and clubs of Northern Ireland to be extra vigilant during exam results day.
Thousands of students will be receiving their A level results on 14 August and will undoubtedly be heading into city centres and towns to celebrate.
But Pubs of Ulster, which represents bars, clubs and restaurants across Northern Ireland, has reminded licensees to be vigilant when serving students and has encouraged door staff step to up their checks on ID and be on the lookout for various forms of fake ID.
Colin Neill, CEO of Pubs of Ulster, said: "This week is obviously an exciting time for thousands of young people in Northern Ireland who will no doubt want to go out and celebrate their exam results with friends on Thursday night and over the weekend. Of course we want them to have a good time but we also want to ensure that they enjoy themselves in a safe, regulated environment.
"We are reminding licensees to be extra vigilant this week to ensure thorough ID checks are carried out on people who appear to be under the age of 21, and to make sure that those forms of ID are genuine. We would also appeal to licensees to keep a look out for those young people who – whilst being at the legal age to consume alcohol - may get carried away with excitement on the night and consume too much."
