Man Charged With Attempted Murder

A 44-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following an attack on a woman in Co Armagh.

The man has also been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, threats to kill, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, common assault and attempt to commit grievous bodily harm.

He is due to appear at Newry Magistrates' Court on Monday (28 July).

A second man, 43, has also been charged with aiding and abetting assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault. He will appear before Newry Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 20 August.

The charges relate to an incident at a property in the Newry Road area of Belleek on Saturday morning (26 July). At around 6.20am, police received a report that a 33-year-old female had been assaulted. She was taken a hospital nearby. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Two Arrested Over Public Disorder In Lurgan
Two people have been arrested in connection with public disorder in Lurgan, Co Armagh, last month. A 30-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of affray and obstruction, and a 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray and obstruction. Both men are being questioned at Lurgan police station.

Man Charged With Attacking Pensioner
A man has been charged with attacking a pensioner in Belfast. The incident occurred in Abetta Parade as a 37-year-old man entered the house of a 70-year-old man, attacked him and tied him up. The man has been charged with burglary, false imprisonment and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He is also charged with stealing the pensioner’s car.
