New Jobs In Co Down Seafood Firm Expansion
Co Down seafood processing firm, Kilkeel Seafoods, is to create 33 jobs with an investment of over £900,000.
The company, based at Kilkeel Harbour, is to expand its operations and increase supplies to its parent company, Whitby Seafoods, based in north Yorkshire.
The firm is investing a total of £933,000 into the business, supported by Invest NI with funding of £99,000.
The jobs are expected to created over the next two years.

Simon Coveney, T.D. Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine today announced €15.5 million of new investment by the Irish seafood processing companies, supported by grants of €3.2 million under the EU co-funded Seafood Processing Business Investment Scheme.

Wind Energy To Create 10,500 Jobs
Over 10,500 jobs could be created in the wind energy sector by 2020, according to a study by the consultancy firm Deloitte. The study says up to €15bn could be invested in the construction and development of wind-energy projects. It says more than €5bn of this could be retained in the Irish economy.

The Barry Group, which runs Costcutter and Quik-Pick stores across Ireland, has announced expansion plans that will see the creation of 300 new jobs. Last year the group turned over €691m, and will now re-invest profits into expanding operations in the Republic.
