Permission Granted For £20m QUB School Of Law
Planning permission has been granted for a new £20m School of Law and student amenity area at Queen’s University Belfast.
The application by Queen’s is for the main former library tower redevelopment to provide a new School of Law and student cafe/amenity area.
The redevelopment will include the partial demolition, re-modelling and extension of the former Library Stack, the re-cladding of the Peter Froggatt Centre and link the two buildings to the Lanyon Building.
Environment Minister Mark H Durkan said: "This development will boost this area of Belfast. It will revitalise and bring back into use the Main Library Stack providing modern appropriate facilities for the School of Law. Some 450 construction related jobs will be generated during the lifetime of the build.
"This is another example of the success of the pre-application discussion process as this scheme has been processed within just six months. What I am about is a stronger environment and a better economy. This decision will help achieve that."
