New Further Education Campus Proposed For Craigavon
Funding secured as part of the Uk Government and NI Executive’s joint economic pact is to be used to develop a new further education campus in Craigavon, Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry.
The proposal, for a single new high quality campus in Craigavon to serve schools, students, employers and the community, followed the departments success in securing £22.5m as part of the Building a Prosperous and United Community scheme.
Minister Farry said: "This development will significantly transform the Further Education infrastructure in Craigavon. Skills have long been recognised as the cornerstone on which investment and our economy thrives and his investment will provide the Southern Regional College with modern first class facilities.
"The new campus will replace the current facilities in Lurgan and Portadown. Further Education (FE) colleges in Northern Ireland give many young people the first opportunity to experience shared education and are recognised as shared spaces for all in society, enabling them to benefit from education and training."
The Minister Continued: "In addition to increasing the number of places available for local young people, the new college will also expand its offer under the Entitlement Framework to schools right across the area. This will mean that more pupils from single identity schools will spend some of their school day in a shared space and in shared education.
Work will commence immediately to identify a site and for the appointment of a Design Team to take forward the development. Actual construction is targeted to commence in 2015/16.

First School To Be Completed On Strule Education Campus Unveiled
The first school to be completed on the Strule Education Campus has been unveiled in Omagh, Co Tyrone. Arvalee School and Resource Centre has been described as a "new era" for shared education in the area and officially opened in September 2016.

Shared Education Campus Gets Go-Ahead
Work on a new shared education campus for the Omagh area is to begin on-site in the autumn. The development will involve site clearance work commencing in the autumn with the construction of the new Arvalee School and Resource Centre commencing next year.

Work Begins On Education Campus
Work on clearing a former Army base at Lisanelly in Omagh, County Tyrone has begun. The 126-acre site will eventually become a new shared education campus with a total of six schools with capacity for 3,700 pupils. Phase one will see the construction of a new school for Arvalee Special School and a resource centre.
