Police uncover arms cache in Co Londonderry

A number of guns and ammunition and been uncovered by police in Co Londonderry.

They were been recovered from a wood close to the Presbyterian graveyard on the Mussenden Road in Caslterock.

SDLP representative for the area, John Dallat blamed loyalist paramilitaries for the arms cache.

He said: "Local people are cheesed off with the activities of these non-elected godfathers, want them off their backs and I am pleased the PSNI have recovered these potential weapons of death."

Police in Co Londonderry are appealing for information following a hoax bomb alert early this morning. Army bomb disposal experts were called to a house in Leckagh Walk, Magherafelt at around 1.30am on Monday after an object resembling a pipe bomb was thrown at a front window.

Police unearth arms cache in Co Down
A substantial cache of guns and explosives has been found in Co Down. Police have arrested a man in connection the find in which officers discovered a sawn-off shotgun, timing units, an imitation pistol and three hand grenades during the searches at Kilcoo, near Castlewellan.

13-Year-Old Killed In Hit-And-Run Incident
A 13-year-old boy has died following a hit-and-run incident in Coleraine. The teenager was knocked down by a car that failed to stop at about 6.30pm on the Newbridge Road on Saturday, 26 November. The boy died in hospital.

HMRC Announces NI Voluntary Redundancies
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is to introduce a voluntary redundancy scheme in four of its offices in Northern Ireland. The offices affected are in Enniskillen, Londonderry, Newry and Belfast. HMRC said the redundancies were necessary because more people are choosing to conduct business online.
