NI unemployment figures rise
Northern Ireland unemployment figures have shown a rise for the second month in a row, according to latest figures.
The seasonally adjusted total for people claiming job seekers' allowance showed an increase of 200 on June compared to May. At present Northern Ireland's jobless total stands at 41,000 people or 5.3% of the workforce.
Northern Ireland's statistics are presently lower than five other UK regions: London (7.0%), North East (6.4%), West Midlands (5.7%), Scotland (5.6%) and Yorkshire & the Humber (5.4%).

Motorcyclist dies after road accident
A motorcyclist has been killed in a road accident in County Antrim. The victim was 29-year-old Gary Morrow from Fairymount in Carrickfergus. The police said the victim’s motorcycle was in collision with an oncoming car on the Upper Road, Greenisland, near Carrickfergus yesterday afternoon. The driver of the car escaped injury.

68 People Died On Northern Ireland Roads In 2024
Sixty-eight people lost their lives on Northern Ireland's roads in 2024, according to provisional figures released by the PSNI today. This represents a slight decrease from 2023, when 71 people died in road traffic collisions. Infrastructure Minister John O'Dowd reminded the public of their shared responsibility for road safety.
