Arrest Made In Post Office Robbery Investigation

Police have arrested a man in connection with an armed robbery of a post office in the village of Glynn, near Larne.

It is understood that the small post office was robbed by a masked man, armed with a knife, at about 09:30 on Wednesday morning.

The PSNI have said that they have arrested a 28-year-old man in the Rathcoole area of Newtownabbey after carrying out a search.

Appeal For Witnesses To Serious Road Crash

The PSNI have appealed for witnesses to a serious road crash in east Belfast on Thursday morning.

A man is in serious condition in hospital following the two-car collision, which happened on the Upper Braniel Road, in the Castlereagh area.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.

HMRC Search Homes In Tobacco Haul Investigation

Officers from HMRC have searched addresses in south Armagh in connection with the largest tobacco seizure in Europe this year.

It is understood that a 56-year-old company director has been question by officers in connection with the seizure, which was made by Irish Revenue's Customs Service in Co Louth on Tuesday morning.

HMRC say that the investigation is ongoing.

Serious Road Crash In L'Derry
A serious road crash has occurred on the Chapel Road in L'Derry. A car and a motorbike where involved in the incident, according to the police. One man, believed to be a teenager, has been taken to hospital where his injuries are believed to be serious. The road has been closed at its junctions with Newlyn Terrace and Spencer Road.

Man arrested over Electoral Office fraud
A 58-year-old man from Co Tyrone has been arrested and charged following a police investigation into irregularities at an Electoral Office in the west of the province. The man was charged with 30 offences, 17 of which relate to theft and 13 of fake accounting. He will appear before a court in Omagh on November 11.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Man Dies In Portadown Road Crash
An 18-year-old man has died following a collision in Portadown. The crash happened on the Dungannon Road between midnight and 12.30am on Wednesday, 08 November. The road has been re-opened. Elsewhere, a man, aged in his 30's, has died in a road collision in Co Antrim.

Belfast to be sole vehicle tax office open next week
Belfast will have the only Local Vehicle Licensing Office open to the public next week as the civil service staff union escalates strike action over pay. DVLNI said it had been advised by NIPSA of continuous strike action by their members from Monday 26 April.
