Belfast woman among motorway dead
A Belfast woman was one of the seven people to die in yesterday's motorway crash near Manchester, police have confirmed.
The 50-year-old, along with her husband who suffered minor injuries, was one of 14 holidaymakers caught in the accident involving a minibus and a car on the M56 at around 5.45am.
All the deaths - three men, three women and a nine-year-old boy – were passengers on the minibus, which had been travelling to Manchester airport at the time.
Greater Manchester Police are currently examining footage from motorway cameras to try to establish what happened.
It is believed that the minibus, which was pulling a luggage trailer, overturned, ripping off its roof as it hit a crash barrier.

First NI Motorway Service Stations Announced
Northern Ireland’s first ever motorway service stations have been granted planning permission. Currently, motorists have to leave the motorway in order to find a service station, but the two developments planned for the M2, along with the two to follow on the M1, will offer drivers direct slip road access from both directions.

PSNI issue crime prevention appeal to NI fans
Police have warned thousands of Northern Ireland supporters travelling to Saturday’s game against England in Manchester to take extra caution with regard to crime prevention. Officers said that by securing all valuables, such as wallets, credit cards, keys and match tickets, fans can ensure they do not become a victim of theft.

Johnny Adair freed from jail
Former loyalist leader Johnny Adair has been released from prison and flown to England. Mr Adair was taken to RAF Aldergrove on Monday and flown by helicopter to Manchester despite not being due for release until Thursday.

Part Of M1 Reopens Following Collision
Part of the M1 motorway towards Belfast, which was closed following a four-vehicle collision, has reopened. The crash happened at the Saintfield Road junction on Tuesday morning. Police and the emergency services attended the scene, however no-one is believed to have been injured.
