£20k Cannabis Uncovered In North Belfast

Cannabis with an estimated street value of £20k has been discovered by police during a raid at a house in north Belfast.

Officers recovered the suspected drugs at the property in the Midland Crescent area on Tuesday afternoon.

Ballyclare Car Dealer Given Community Service

A car dealer from Ballyclare, County Antrim, has been ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service after admitting a number of offences, including selling a clocked car with a false tax disc.

James Redpath, 37, who traded from Ballynure Road, Ballyclare, posed as a private seller. He advertised and sold a clocked car with a false tax disc and sold two further accident damaged cars.

Redpath was also ordered to pay a total of £2383 in compensation to the consumers involved.

Longford Company Fined At Lisburn Court

A County Longford haulage company has been fined a total of £900 at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court.

The charges related to an investigation by the DVA into the operation of a commercial goods vehicle by Brendan O’Reilly of Newtownbond, Ballinalee, Longford.

Mr O’Reilly was fined a total of £650 for seven tachograph and drivers hours’ related offences. This included £300 for three offences of failing to take a statutory break and a further £350 for four offences of excess daily driving.

He was fined a further £250 for operating an overloaded vehicle.

The Court also ordered Mr O’Reilly to pay an offender levy of £15 and court costs of £32.

Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud

A man has been convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

Paul Blacker, 34, of Antrim Road, Belfast claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £9,922 while failing to declare employment. He was given 120 hours community service and ordered to pay court costs of £58.
