Pipe Bomb Explodes In Holywood

A pipe bomb has partially exploded in Holywood, County Down.

The PSNI has launched an investigation and carried out searches in the Church Green area, after a women in a property reported hearing a loud noise at about midnight.

No one was injured and no damage was caused. Police and army bomb experts arrived at the scene and examined the area and the device.

The device was then taken away for further forensic examinations.

Investigations are ongoing and the PSNI has appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Suspect Device Removed In Co Down Alert
A security alert in Co Down has now ended. Army bomb disposal experts removed a suspect device that was found in the Carsons Dale area in Ballygowan on Thursday night, 24 August. The device has been taken for forensic examination. Police confirmed the alert has ended.

Woman Held In PC's Bomb Murder Probe
There has been a further arrest in the ongoing probe into a police officer's murder earlier this year. A woman has been detained in Omagh, as more searches are being carried out by police investigating the booby-trap bomb murder of Constable Ronan Kerr.

Investigation Launched After Car Set On Fire In East Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after a car was set on fire in east Belfast. The blaze happened in the Short Strand area at around 2.45am on Sunday. Police believe a petrol bomb may have been used. A PSNI spokesperson said: "At this time it appears a petrol bomb may have been thrown inside the vehicle.

UDA Responsible For Recent Bomb Attacks In Ahoghill
The PSNI has confirmed that the UDA was responsible for the recent bomb attacks in Ahoghill, Co Antrim, a Sinn Féin councillor has claimed. North Antrim MLA Daithí McKay said he will raise the status of unionist paramilitary ceasefires with the local PSNI Commander.
