Digital Action Plan Launched

Up to 20,000 new jobs could be created as part of a new Digital Action Plan.

Launched today, the plan is being supported by a number of departments in the Northern Ireland Executive, along with the First and Deputy First Ministers.

The main aim of the plan is to encourage companies to set up in Northern Ireland, but the action plan also includes proposals for teaching programming and coding to children from the age of eight.

"The digital sector is an area with immense potential for inward investment and economic expansion in Northern Ireland," First Minister Peter Robinson said.

He added: "Momentum's aim is to create 20,000 jobs in the local IT sector over the next five years through partnership working is something the Northern Ireland Executive supports."
