Occupational Therapists To Go On Strike
Occupational therapists at Greenwich council, fed up with an alleged 'bullying culture', are striking again on 11 and 12 June for 48 hours.
The therapists, members of Unite, the country’s largest union, have already taken strike action on 21 May over alleged bullying, harassment and the suspension of a work colleague accused of being too friendly with staff.
On Wednesday 11 June, the therapists will be protesting at Greenwich council’s annual general meeting at the town hall in Wellington Street, London SE18 6PW from 17.30.
Unite regional officer Onay Kasab said: "Greenwich council now needs to urgently address the complaints of bullying, harassment and victimisation made by Unite.
"The message is clear - we will take action again and again until our complaints are addressed.
"We are asking people to support our pickets during the two-day action. The pickets will be in force from 07.00 to 10.00 and, more importantly, we are asking for support from the public for the protest at the council’s annual meeting.
"The allegations against our suspended member are ridiculous. We demand the suspension is lifted and that the newly elected councillors at Greenwich take this opportunity to engage constructively with Unite to resolve this dispute."
The therapists had voted by 100 per cent for strike action.
