Arrests Over 1994 UVF Murders

Three men have been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of three Catholic men in north Belfast in 1994.

The men, aged 40, 47 and 51, were arrested on Monday morning as part of Operation Stafford, a PSNI investigation into murders and other serious crimes carried out by the UVF in the area.

The suspects have been taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Antrim police station over the killing of Sean McParland on 17 February 1994. The 55-year-old was shot while he was babysitting at Skegoniel Avenue and died a week later.

One of the detained men, a 47-year-old, is also being questioned by detectives regarding the murders of 24-year-old Gary Convie and 44-year-old Eamon Fox on 17 May 1994.

The pair were sitting in their car at a building site in North Queen Street on 17 May 1994 when a gunman opened fire on them.
