Lord Mayor Leads Business Delegation To New York
The Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Máirtín Ó Muilleoir, is leading a high powered business delegation to New York, in the latest bid to attract trans-Atlantic inward investment to the city.
Travelling under the banner 'Belfast In The Big Apple', the delegation is drawn from the manufacturing, hospitality, tourism, digital and venture capital sectors.
Speaking as the delegation left Belfast International Airport, the Lord Mayor said: "Belfast in the Big Apple is the first outward business mission from the city to New York in 20 years, showcasing the very best of our companies and allowing start-up funds here to set out their stalls in New York.
"I am delighted to lead this mission of this inspiring band of business leaders. We will undertake a busy round of engagements including a meeting with Scott Stringer, the Comptroller of New York City, who has $120bn in his investment portfolio and a dinner with Irish American business chiefs in the prestigious boardroom of the New York Stock Exchange,
"Our aim is to attract investment, partnerships and jobs by placing Belfast as the best European destination for American business," concluded Councillor Ó Muilleoir.
