Teenage girl dies in fall from quad bike
A teenage girl from Carrickfergus has died while on holiday in Scotland after the quad bike she was riding overturned on a beach near Stranraer.
Lindsey Waller (17) from Heston Drive, Carrickfergus, was riding the quad bike along Sandhead Beach on Sunday afternoon, when the vehicle flipped over. She sustained a serious head injury and was taken by ambulance to Garrick Hospital in the town of Stranraer, before being transferred to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow.
Doctors at the hospital tried to save her but she died on Monday morning.
A second girl, also aged 17, who had been riding pillion, escaped unhurt.
Dumfries and Galloway police are continuing their inquiries into the accident and a full report will be forwarded to the procurator fiscal.

A man has died in a quad bike accident in Co Tyrone. The man, believed to be in his 40s, was killed at the scene in the Plumbridge area just before 5pm on Thursday, 02 November. Rapid response paramedics and an air ambulance attended the scene. Sinn Féin MLA Declan McAleer said the community is in "shock".

Warning Issued After Jewellery Stolen In Antrim Burglary
The PSNI have issued a warning to jewellers and antique dealers to be on the lookout for a stolen gold watch with the inscription: "Honorary Consul to North Africa". Police made the call after thieves stole cash, expensive watches and antiques from a house in Glenavy. A store nearby was also broken into and horse riding equipment was taken.

A policewoman has been killed in a horse riding accident in Ballygowan, Co Down. Constable Claire Lowe, 39, fell from her horse while she was taking part in a hunting event on Wednesday, 26 October. She is believed to have died at the scene. Lisburn and Castlereagh City District Commander Supt Sean Wright said: "Claire was in the prime of her life.
