Rory McIlroy Ends Engagement To Caroline Wozniacki

NI golf champion Rory McIlroy has ended his engagement with tennis player Caroline Wozniacki.

The pair announced their engagement on New Year's Eve.

In a statement issued through his management company, Mr McIlroy said: "The problem is mine. The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realise that I wasn't ready for all that marriage entails.

"There is no right way to end a relationship that has been so important to two people.

"I wish Caroline all the happiness she deserves and thank her for the great times we have had."

The couple had been together for more than two years.

Action Stations Call Over HMS Caroline
An historic naval vessel that got a second life after combat duties as a base to train hundreds of part-time sailors is under threat. Alliance Councillor Seán Neeson has called for action to be taken ensure that HMS Caroline remains in Belfast. The ship has been lying idle since 2009, when the Royal Navy decided it would decommission it.

PSNI Launches New Community Engagement Programme
