Unemployment Rate Continues To Fall But Still Highest In UK
The number of unemployed people in Northern Ireland has fallen for the 15th month in a row, down by 800 in April, and now standing at 56,100, according to the latest labour market figures published today by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA).
Despite the falling unemployment rate, NI still has the UK's largest number of working age people claiming benefits, currently standing at 6.2%.

Modest Fall In Unemployment Welcomed
There has been an official welcome for a modest fall in unemployment rate. Figures released today for the period August - October 2011 show that the Northern Ireland unemployment rate fell over the quarter from 7.4% to 6.9%.

Northern Ireland's unemployment rate remains below the UK average with output levels for manufacturing and services showing a larger annual increase than the UK. More NI People Joining Dole Queue
There are now more people on the Dole in Northern Ireland with figures released today showing that the unemployment rate increased to reach 7.8%. This is according to the statistics recorded over the quarter, September - November 2010, backed-up by more recent figures for December 2010.

Northern Ireland sees rise in unemployment
While the number of people without work in the UK has risen by 15,000 in the last three months, Northern Ireland has seen a more modest increase in unemployment - by only 0.3 per cent on the previous quarter. In addition, the increase in benefit claimants was lower than had been expected both nationally and locally.
