Unemployment Falls For 15th Consecutive Month
The number of unemployed people in Northern Ireland has fallen for the 15th month in a row, down by 800 in April, and now standing at 56,100, according to the latest labour market figures published today by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA).
Despite the falling unemployment rate, NI still has the UK's largest number of working age people claiming benefits, currently standing at 6.2%.

Unemployment In Ireland Falls
Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton, T.D. has today welcomed the latest Live Register figures published by the Central Statistics Office which show that unemployment continues to decline with the standardised unemployment rate falling to 11.2% in August from a crisis peak of 15.1% in early 2012.

Unemployment Figures Fall Between February And March
New figures have revealed official unemployment numbers have dropped 0.2% between February and March. The Central Statistics Office (CSO) publication states the official unemployment rate has fallen from 6.6% to 6.4%, and from 8.3% compared with March last year.

Unemployment Rate Decreases
Figures released today for the period May - July 2013 show that the Northern Ireland unemployment rate decreased by 0.9 percentage points over the quarter to 6.9%. More recent figures for August 2013 show that the number of unemployment benefit claimants decreased by 300 over the month.

Figures released for the period April - July 2013 show that the Northern Ireland unemployment rate decreased by 0.7 percentage points over the quarter to 7.5%. More recent figures for July 2013 show that the number of unemployment benefit claimants decreased by 500 over the month.

UUP Comments On Latest Unemployment Figures
Ulster Unionist Economy spokesperson Sandra Overend MLA has commented on the latest unemployment figures which have been released. They show that an additional 600 people were added to the local claimant count which now stands at 64,100.
