Conference To Highlight Economic Potential Of Creative Industries
Culture Minister Carál Ní Chuilín is to host an all-Ireland creative industries conference to highlight the industries economic potential.
To be held in the Millennium Forum on 14 May, the Minister said: "I will be hosting this conference in May to explore opportunities for our local companies to grow their businesses and for our young people to build careers in the creative industries.
"I have specifically chosen Derry as a location for the conference because I want to highlight the success of City of Culture and how it is transforming the North West into a national and international driver for the creative industries."
The conference will include discussion about how local companies can maximise commissioning opportunities with broadcasting organisations, how the arts can contribute to growth in the creative industries and potential opportunities for north/south collaboration.
Guest speakers and panel members include Peter Johnston, Director BBC NI, Richard Williams, Chief Executive NI Screen, Bernard McCloskey, Head of Education, NI Screen, Bob Collins, Chairman Arts Council, Professor Greg Maguire, University of Ulster, Michael Wilson, Managing Director UTV, Susie Wright, Development Manager, Channel 4 and Pádhraic Ó Ciardha, deputy CEO, TG4.
