Ernst & Young To Create 486 New Posts

West Belfast MP, Paul Maskey has welcomed the announcement by accountancy firm Ernst & Young that it is to create 486 jobs in Belfast.

Mr Maskey said: "This announcement today by accountancy firm EY that it is to create 486 jobs in Belfast is a great boost for the local workforce.

"Not only will these jobs provide almost 500 people with employment but the extra injection of £19m will be a welcome bonus for the local economy through the additional spending on goods and services.

"The confidence of this investment by EY will also send a positive message that the North is competitive and a good place to invest."

Huge Technical College Project Planned
Plans for a €486 million development of a new urban quarter and campus for the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) at Grangegorman will be submitted to Dublin City Council within weeks. Some 450 full-time construction jobs will be created for a 10-year period during the development of the site.

IT Firm Creates 100 New Jobs
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton, TD, today announced that Mandiant, a specialist provider of IT security solutions is to establish an engineering and security operations centre in Dublin with the creation of 100 new jobs.

Offshore Company Axes Jobs
Around 150 jobs in Aberdeen and Dundee have been axed after an offshore services company ceased trading. Oceanteam Power and Umbilical has been forced to close when the firm's holding company withdrew its financial support. Staff are based in Aberdeen, at workshops in Dundee and offshore.
