Security Alert Declared A Hoax
A security alert at Woodbourne Police Station has been declared as a hoax.
On Thursday afternoon, army experts were sent to the station, which is located on Suffolk Road in west Belfast, following the discovery of a suspicious object.
A controlled explosion was carried out and the object was later declared a hoax.
Roads around the area were closed as a result of the operation, but have since reopened.
Condemning those responsible for the alert, SDLP West Belfast Councillor Tim Attwood said: "This is completely reckless, particularly so given it is during the Easter break and there are more people, including a lot of children, than usual around.
"There is simply no place for this type of disruption. Society has moved on and nobody wants this in their community.
"Those responsible for this are criminal elements that have no mandate to represent anyone, yet they seem intent on disrupting life in the local community. They need to get the message people don't want this. People are fed up with this type of disruption and just want to get on with their lives in peace."
