Funeral Of Murdered Former Dissident To Be Held

The funeral of murdered former dissident republican Tommy Crossan is to be held today.

Mr Crossan was shot dead on Good Friday while sitting in a hut at a fuel business he owned off the Springfield Road in west Belfast.

According to reports the 43-year-old father of six is believed to have been expelled from the Continuity IRA after falling out with other dissidents.

The PSNI arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the shooting, but he has subsequently been released without charge.

Police say that the investigation is ongoing.

Police Seize Gun And Cash In West Belfast Searches
Police investigating dissident republican activity have seized a firearm during a search operation in West Belfast. The searches were carried out in Andersontown area on Thursday, 03 August. Detectives from the Serious Crime Branch also discovered a sum of cash and a small quantity of suspected drugs during the operation.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Violent Dissident Republican Activity
A man has been arrested on suspicion of violent dissident republic activity. The 53-year-old was detained in east Belfast and has been taken to Musgrave serious crime suite for questioning. The arrest is in connection with shots being fired over a coffin in west Belfast on Tuesday, 04 July.
