War Graves Damaged In Attack
War graves have been damaged and vandalised at Belfast City Cemetery.
A member of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, who tends to the upkeep of war graves, has described the attacks, which left one headstone smashed and 14 others damaged, as "deeply distressing".
A 'Cross of Sacrifice' memorial at the Falls Road cemetery was also covered in graffiti.
The Commission is understood to be working with Belfast City Council to have the damage repaired as quickly as possible.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses amid a spate of criminal damage to war graves in Belfast. Some 12 graves at Belfast City Cemetery have been reported as damaged since Friday 04 October. Anyone with information or who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area is urged to contact police on 101 quoting reference 592 of 07/10/19.

Police Investigate Damaged Graves In Co Antrim
Police are investigating an incident in which four graves have been damaged in a County Antrim cemetery. Paint was thrown over a grave and two headstones pushed over, causing damage to another, at Carnmoney cemetery in Newtownabbey. It is understood that the damage was caused sometime between Thursday and Saturday morning.

Republican graves damaged in attack
A number of graves in a west Belfast cemetery have been vandalised in an overnight attack. Nearly 40 graves were desecrated on the republican plot at Milltown Cemetery. Three IRA members killed by the SAS in Gibraltar, and hunger striker Kieran Doherty’s headstones were covered in yellow paint in the incident.

Republican plot gravestones damaged
A number of graves have been destroyed at the newly refurbished Republican Plot at Milltown cemetery on Sunday night. Around 16 individual graves were destroyed in the attacks which have been condemned by Sinn Féin and the Belfast National Graves Association.

Police are treating a fire which caused severe damage to a section of a County Down shopping mall as suspicious. The fire at the Grove Shopping Centre in Downpatrick caused extensive damage to one store and spread to three adjacent shops.
