Woman Held Over McConville Murder

A 57-year-old woman has been arrested over the abduction and murder of Jean McConville in 1972.

Mrs McConville, a mother of 10, was kidnapped from her flat in west Belfast by the IRA in December 1972. She was one of Northern Ireland's Disappeared.

Nobody has ever been charged with her murder, but in March 2014, 77-year-old Ivor Bell, who was a leader in the Provisional IRA in the 1970s was arrested by police and charged in connection with the murder. He was charged with aiding and abetting murder and membership of the IRA.

Last week, a man, aged 56, was also arrested over the murder. He was then released without charge.
