Over £3m To Be Invested At Whale
Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Arlene Foster has announced an investment of over £3 million in research and development at water systems manufacturer Whale.
The Minister made the announcement as she officially opened the company's new Head Office in Bangor. Whale is also investing in two major research and development (R&D) projects with almost £1 million of support from Invest Northern Ireland, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
Speaking at the official opening, Arlene Foster said: "Whale's investment in new premises and in its R&D projects signals a commitment to long-term growth through providing world-class products backed up with high quality customer service.
"The company places a high priority on innovation, which is evident in the number of new products developed in recent years and its holding of 17 patents worldwide. These latest R&D projects represent a step change in heating and water systems for the caravan, marine and healthcare markets and offer the opportunity for Whale to become a supplier of choice for global manufacturers in these sectors.
"This will not only enhance the company’s reputation but also reinforce the excellent reputation of Northern Ireland’s engineering sector."
The two R&D projects will involve the company designing a new range of water and space heaters for the caravan and boat market, and further developing its pump and water system technology.
