McCauley Trailers Scoops Almost £200,000 Business Contract
Toomebridge-based McCauley Trailers has been assisted by Invest Northern Ireland to win business worth almost £200,000 for its MAC commercial trailers in Estonia.
The contract is to supply trailers to the Estonian Ministry of Defence in Tallinn, custom-built to the client's specifications. The company has taken part in a series of Invest NI trade missions to Estonia and other Baltic markets.
The latest deal in the region was outlined by Jonathan Hanna, McCauley's Operations Manager, today (24 March) at the start of the latest week-long Invest NI trade mission to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and was welcomed by Dr Vicky Kell, Invest NI Trade Director.
Dr Kell said: "This is extremely encouraging news for McCauley Trailers and will strengthen their position in a marketplace which is showing considerable interest in doing business with Northern Ireland.
"Estonia and the other parts of the Baltic are compact and open markets which makes doing business much easier, especially for smaller companies, than in many other European nations. Another important feature that benefits our companies is the concentration of business around the main centres of Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius," added Dr Kell.
Mr Hanna said: "Winning business with such a prestigious customer as the Ministry of Defence is a tremendous boost for us in a market which is becoming increasingly important to the company. We've been exporting to Estonia since 2007 and find it an excellent marketplace in which to do business.
"The presence which we have in Estonia, and are now benefiting from, is the result of our participation in earlier Invest NI trade missions. These are a great way to explore an export market and make the necessary business contacts on the ground.
"The Ministry of Defence business was secured in open tender competitions. The first tender, for a Tandem Axle Commercial Drawbar Low Loader, was delivered in February.
"The second tender, for 4x Four Axle Turntable Low Loaders, has just been delivered. We secured the business because our innovative in-house design team was able to develop, and we were able to manufacture, custom built trailers to meet the required specification supplied by the client quickly."
