Search Resumes For Missing Angler
A search operation for a missing Co Armagh angler has resumed for a fifth day.
The 30-year-old man has been missing since Thursday afternoon after his boat capsized in a lough in Co Westmeath.
The man is understood to have been out fishing with two others when their boat capsized on Lough Ree, near Athlone.
A second man, 27-year-old David Warnock died after being rescued from the water last week, while the third man, thought to be in his 60s, is recovering in hospital. It has been reported that he spoke to Gardaí over the weekend and the information has helped with the search operation.
Weather conditions were said to be poor when the men, from a Co Armagh angling club, set out on their journey on Thursday. They left Hodson Bay and had planned to camp in the Carnagh Bay area for the weekend and fish on the lake. The men were of a party of six who set out in two boats, but one turned back to shore due to the weather.
Damien Delaney, from RNLI Lough Ree Lifeboat Station, said the service had been "overwhelmed" by the support the search operation has received.
