Police Seize £900k Cannabis
A haul of herbal cannabis estimated to be worth £900k has been seized during police raids in south Belfast.
The properties were searched by the PSNI's Organised Crime Branch on Wednesday.
Cannabis worth £500k along with other drugs paraphernalia were discovered by police at a house on Rugby Avenue, in the 'Holyland' university area.
Then at another property on Haypark Avenue off the Ormeau Road, herbal cannabis worth £400k was also seized, also along with drugs paraphernalia.
Detective Chief Inspector Catherine Montgomery, from Organised Crime Branch, said: "This significant seizure further reinforces our determination to remove controlled drugs from the streets of Northern Ireland.
"The potential harm to the public caused by drugs is an issue that the PSNI take seriously. We will continue to work in conjunction with partner agencies to ensure the closure of all supply routes and to bring to justice those involved in trafficking drugs at all levels.
"If you see or know anyone who is dealing drugs in your local area then contact your local police on 0845 600 8000 or alternatively you can contact the independent charity crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
