UTV Posts £16.9m Profit
UTV has posted pre-tax profits of £16.9m and group revenue of £107.8m for 2013.
The figures amount to a drop on the £20.1m and £112.3m recorded for 2012, respectively.
The latest report from UTV Media states "difficult market conditions in the first half of the year" and "improving macro-economic environment leading to growth in the second half".
Strong audience shares were recorded across radio and television, while cost savings were realised due to the groups' restructuring and reorganisation
The UTV report also posted continued growth in the first three months of 2014, with April expected to show further strong growth.
The report comes as UTV plans to launch a new television channel in the Republic of Ireland following agreement with ITV Global Entertainment for rights, from January 2015, to broadcast ITV Studios programmes there.
John McCann, Group Chief Executive, UTV Media plc, said: "The contrasting performances of the first and second halves of the year are evident in these results, with Group operating profit down 36% in the first half of the year and up 10% in the second half. The improvement in market conditions continues into the current year, with all of our divisions recording good growth in the first quarter of 2014."
