Kennedy Announces Armagh Traffic Calming Consultation
Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced a consultation on potential traffic calming measures for Lang's Road in Armagh.
The scheme includes proposals to install five speed ramps along the stretch to the rear of the Gaol, which is frequently used by motorists as a route to the Newry Road.
Danny Kennedy said: "Following representation from the public I initiated a further review of this site for potential traffic calming measures. This work highlighted an increase in traffic speed and volume and as a result, the priority of the works in this location has increased.
"It is now intended to carry out a consultation exercise as part of the required statutory process in the coming weeks. If the consultation delivers a positive outcome, work could begin as early as May.
"I am aware of the strong community campaign for traffic calming here over a number of years and I would urge residents to give their views on the proposals during the consultation."
