Sandvik To Relocate 160 Jobs To NI
An engineering company from Sweden has relocated 160 of its jobs to Northern Ireland.
The firm, Sandvik, will move its business from Derbyshire, England, to another of its sites in Ballygawley, Co Down. The move will see Sandvik consolidate its UK manufacturing of mobile screens and crushers.
Welcoming the announcement, Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster, said: "Today's announcement from Sandvik is a tremendous endorsement of the staff and management at the Ballygawley site.
"Not only does it demonstrate the strength of the manufacturing expertise and capability available but it is also a significant and a welcome boost to the local economy.
"The fact that the company has chosen Ballygawley as its sole production site is positive news for Northern Ireland and it will allow us to continue to build on our already strong reputation in this sector."
Sandvik has been established in the UK since 1914 and has around 1,500 workers across 15 different businesses at 13 locations in NI, Scotland, Wales and England.
