Dublin Heart Surgeons In Belfast Pending Cardiac Assessment Findings

Heart surgeons from Dublin are in Belfast on a temporary agreement to carry out operations, as the future of children's cardiac services is still undecided.

An international assessment of cardiac services for children in Northern Ireland is to be carried out looking at existing hospital services in both the north and south, outline options for service configuration and examine governance arrangements.

The assessment is expected to be completed by June.

In the interim surgeons from Dublin have travelled to Belfast to carry out procedures, the first of which took place on 17 February.
