Bail For Man Accused Of GBH Of Baby

A man charged with causing grievous bodily harm to his three-month-old daughter, has been released on bail, it has been reported.

Christopher O'Neill, 23, from Twinbrook in west Belfast appeared via videolink from Maghaberry Prison.

He was granted bail by a judge on Friday, but was only released on Monday when his solicitor handed the accused's passport over to police.

O'Neill's daughter, named as Cárágh Walsh, was admitted to the Royal Victoria Hospital earlier last week, but on Friday, she died from her injuries.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out in the next few days.

In addition to surrendering his passport, a judge at Lisburn Magistrates' Court ruled that O'Neill could not leave Northern Ireland until his case is heard.

Mr O'Neill is expected to appear in court again on 10 March.
