Brothers Convicted Of Child Sex Abuse

Two brothers have been found guilty on a number of child sex abuse offences.

One of the men, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found guilty on 31 out of 38 abuse charges against his son and daughter. A number of the counts included rape.

The other man, his brother, was convicted on seven charges of abusing the girl. Again, a number of these charges were for rape.

The offences happened in the 1990s.

A third man, said to be a family friend, has been acquitted on all charges.

The case, which was held at Coleraine Crown Court, lasted for almost three weeks. In closing, the judge said that given the graphic nature of the evidence presented, the jury – if they wish – can be excused from further jury service for life.

The two men will be sentenced on 6 March.
